After
almost a decade of racing absence, Bentley is ready to reenter the race track
with a new vehicle: the Continental GT3. Currently only in concept stage
(unveiled at the Paris Motor Show), the car is based on the Continental GT
Speed, which Bentley says “is the perfect car for us to develop into a racer”.
The new
racer’s career is scheduled to begin sometime at the end of 2013, and the plan
is to prove what the GT is really capable of, and also to establish “a solid
foundation for Bentley’s long-term motorsport plans”, according to Wolfgang
Schreiber, the company’s CEO and Chairman.
The concept
looks really amazing, with a wide body kit , side exhaust pies, and a stripped
out interior. Powering the vehicle will probably be an awesome turbocharged W12
with racing features.
While the GT Speed has an AWD configuration, the GT3 will
have to feature a rear wheel drive in order to meet racing regulations.
