Leave it to
Versace to put out a resort collection that really feels like a glitzy Italian
vacation. For many labels, resort doesn’t necessarily mean “resort
clothes”–they are the pieces that are on the selling floor the longest and are
meant to be worn year-round, blended in with your wardrobe. Not this
collection. Donatella Versace’s take on the sailor theme is, as you’d expect,
brightly colored (acqua, lemon yellow, cotton candy pink), boldly printed
(checks, florals), and body-con. Long to-the-floor skirts were a new silhouette
but they were slit up to there and paired with crop tops and tiny bandeaus
(lest you were thinking this was a new covered up Versace). It was all very
sexy, of course, but button detailing and candy colors made it sweet, too.
