BROWSE AND BOOK STARWOOD HOTELS USING GOOGLE GLASS

Technology has really made hotel bookings very easy; all you need to do is pop out your smartphone, use a specific app, punch-in all the information along with payment details and Voila! But how about making your next hotel booking using a wearable device? We are talking about the Google Glass in particular which went on sale only for one day to the general public on Wednesday. Imagine this, you walk into the hotel lobby and not only book a room using your Google Glass but also pull out all your reservation details. Sounds uber-cool right? Tech-savvy hotel brand Starwood is the latest to join the bandwagon to adopt the wearable technology and on Wednesday announced plans to release an app for Google Glass which will help its users to search and reserve a room in the company’s 1,150 hotels and resorts worldwide.

Starwood is currently trying out a beta version of the Google Glass app named ‘SPG for Glass’ which it plans to release soon. Using the app, the wearers will not only be able to search properties around the world but get turn-by-turn directions to a particular hotel and explore room photos, amenities, dining options and more. ‘The SPG on Glass app was designed to take advantage of everything Glass has to offer,’ Starwood says in a note on its website. ‘Searches are done by simply speaking what you are looking for or by GPS location.’ This announcement come shortly after Google launched a new program called the Glass at Work which will help businesses across the world use the wearable device to innovate and improvise. Companies like Virgin Atlantic, Mercedes and more have already started to explore the possibilities of using the Google Glass to improve their operations.
