Mercedes-Benz Style
and Silver Arrows Marine presented the motor yacht Arrow 460-Granturismo at the
Monaco Yacht Show 2016 (28th September – 1st October).
The yacht measures 14
meters (46 feet) in length and has 2 Yanmar diesel engines with a total of 960
horsepower (706 kW). That's good enough for a top speed of 40 knots (74 km/h,
46 mph), although the recommended cruising speed is 28 - 30 knots (52-56 km/h,
32-35 mph) in calm waters.
It is effectively a
crossover, combining characteristics of a day boat and a cabin cruiser which can
accommodate up to 10 guests into a versatile and functional interior. The
generous side windows can be opened and the windscreen lifted to give the
occupants a sense of open space while comfortably seated within, while the
tables and seats can be folded open or closed as needed. This floating
Mercedes-Benz’s also sails with a luxurious bathroom unit, dressing room, air
conditioning system, high-quality audio system, along with a wine-cellar and an
ice-making machine.
On the outside, the
boat has been designed to reference traditional automotive design, so there's a
feature line running along the side and the tail of the boat is slightly
droopy, just like the tail end of the current E-Class, S-Class and C-Class. The
designers have also worked hard to make sure the practical details like
handrails are seamlessly integrated into the shape. Of course the luxury comes
with a price: the Mercedes-Benz-boot will cost at least 1.25 million € (approximately
$1.68 million). The first copies are delivered in the second half of the year
2017 to the customers.
“By blending the
maritime and automotive world with their respective design idioms, technologies
and ideas we have created a new standard for motor yachts. The “Arrow 460 -Granturismo”
blends maritime engineering artistry with charismatic design and perfect
elegance, familiar from the world of Mercedes-Benz,” says Ron Gibbs, Chairman
of Silver Arrows Marine.
