The 311.68ft /95m Custom Motor Yacht 'Indian Empress' was
delivered from Oceanco in 2000 and underwent a superb and comprehensive
interior refit by Mark Berryman design in 2015. Previously named ‘Al Mirqab’,
the luxury yacht also possesses the sophisticated exterior styling and
engineering of The A Group.
Featuring all of the charms typically associated with Dutch
craftsmanship, Indian Empress is every bit the entertainer- from the numerous
sunbathing spots to spacious social spaces and a sizeable movie theatre, guests
are sure to enjoy only the finest of luxury charter vacations. What’s more, the
complete interior refit on all four decks in 2015 has meant that all of the
available space is both stylish and functional.
Motivated by the desire to create timeless aesthetics which
cohere entirely with the engineering of a given superyacht, The A Group have
ensured that Indian Empress possesses a striking profile without compromising
an inch when it comes to her overall function. Indeed, with an abundance of sun
loungers, long al fresco buffet bars, and a massive sundeck designed for
entertaining, charter guests are able to enjoy themselves in the sun whilst
appreciating all of the aesthetically impressive details of Indian Empress.
During her refit, the spa pool at the aft end of the owner’s deck was replaced
by a bespoke table which seats up to 24 guests, a decision which ultimately
enables for a greater social experience when chartering the yacht. What’s more,
the helideck which originally occupied space on the upper aft deck has been
converted into a spacious outdoor lounge complete with a fully stocked bar- the
perfect spot for enjoying a cocktail whilst looking out across the ocean.
Interior Design
Originally designed for a member of the Qatari royal family,
Indian Empress possessed a distinctly Arabic elegance which her new owner has
brought into the modern age by refitting her with more neutral and contemporary
tones and furnishings. Chief among the new additions to Indian Empress is the
Yamaha Disklavier piano which once belonged to none other than Elton John.
Taking pride of place in the main salon, the unique feature is no doubt best
enjoyed whilst entertaining guests or unwinding after a day on the water.
Carried out in the Turkship shipyard Turquoise Yachts, the extensive interior
refit has also graced the upper salon with a range of satin woods and pale
colours which work to effectively accentuate the volume of superyacht Indian
Empress. Expertly integrated with the original wood panelling, the introduction
of limed oak and walnut has been carefully applied in order to complement the
artwork by Picasso and Husain which adorns the walls. Divided by slats to
create dedicated areas without entirely closing off the interior, the layout of
Indian Empress remains completely spacious and convenient for charter guests to
navigate. The waterfalls on either side of the bar in the upper salon, for
instance, create a seamless transition between the indoor and outdoor social
spaces.
Accommodation
Sleeping up to 12 guests with an attendant and discreetly
positioned crew of 33, Indian Empress offers six double berthed cabins on the
main deck and five twin berths on the lower deck. For the principal charterer,
there’s a generously sized master’s cabin which comes with a displaced study
allowing for any necessary business to be to carried out in a highly
contemporary environment. The bedroom itself includes a retractable television
screen which, when lowered, allows guests to look out on the ocean through
floor to ceiling windows- no doubt the best sight to wake up to. At night, or
indeed at any other time of the day, electric blackout blinds can be lowered
for some truly undisturbed rest. Consistent with the ulta-contemporary aesthetic
found elsewhere on board, each of the guest suites are furnished with engaging
works of art and light woods to create entirely inviting spaces.
Leisure & Entertainment
Featuring a comprehensive spa area, an impressive collection
of towable water toys, and an assortment of gym equipment, there’s something
for every guest to enjoy. Complete with plenty of cinema seating, her home
movie theatre creates an authentic atmosphere for enjoying a blockbuster or two
following a day out in the sun. Also equipped for diving, Indian Empress
provides guests with the opportunity to get properly acquainted with the marine
life surrounding her charter grounds.
Special Features
Featuring a sumptuous ‘Gentleman’s Lounge’ inspired by
classic cigar lounges, and a richly elegant
library, Indian Empress manages to effortlessly imbue classic charm into her
wholly modern aesthetic. What’s more, the sheer amount of space available on
the exterior is truly unrivalled, and makes effective use of every inch of
room.
Performance
As a custom displacement yacht, Indian Empress is equipped with an ultra-modern
stabilization system which reduces roll motion effect and results in a
smoother, more enjoyable cruising experience. She features ‘at anchor
stabilisers’ which work at zero speed to increase onboard comfort at-anchor and
on rough waters. With a cruising speed of 14 knots, a maximum speed of 25 knots
and a range of 6nm from her 564,000litre fuel tanks, she is the perfect blend
of performance and luxury.
