Milan’s Most Fashionable Hotels

All eyes are on Milan these days as the city hosts another installment of its long-revered Fashion Week. And if this year is anything like the last, it will be chock-full of spectacular fashion moments to remember.

(Fashionistas will recall the revelry of 2017’s headline-making shows, from Versace’s resurrection of the iconic ’90s supermodel catwalk to a nostalgic soundtrack of George Michael’s “Freedom! ’90” to Prada’s artistic ode to the modern feminist movement.)

While Fashion Week certainly keeps Milan on the map of worldwide style hubs, it is the Italian city’s hotels that keep it de rigueur 365 days a year. Whether you’re a Fashion Week regular or a fashionable visitor during any other season, these are the most stylish places to stay while in town.

Bulgari Hotel Milano

Aperitivo hour at the Bulgari Hotel Milano’s garden bar isn’t all that different from having a front-row seat at one of the most coveted shows on the city’s Fashion Week schedule. Men wear printed suits and aviators with ease, and the women could be mistaken for Carine Roitfeld. There’s no street-style circus to be seen here, though—the guests have an elegance that appears to be innate. The garden bar is the biggest draw (if only for the entrancing social scene), but the hotel is also home to an incredible spa that offers heavenly treatments, including a host of options to eliminate the effects of jet lag—or that post-Fashion Week hangover.  And, of course, being a Bulgari hotel, the decor is flawlessly polished and luxurious, with a slight masculine edge.

Hotel Viu

Hotel Viu was created with the intention of becoming a hub for the international creative community, and so far, it has succeeded. With a focus on wellness, informal socialization, and environmental sustainability, the Viu is notable for its vertical garden, paying homage to the Bosco Verticale project. Located in the emerging Porta Volta district, just a short walk from Corso Como, the hotel also boasts the city’s only public rooftop with an outdoor swimming pool. Naturally, it’s become a favorite among the fashion crowd and has hosted many post-show events since it opened last year.

Principe di Savoia- Presidential suite living room

The Dorchester Collection’s iconic Principe di Savoia first opened in the 1920s, and to this day, it’s one of Milan’s most beloved luxury landmarks. Over the years, the baroque hotel has hosted a number of high-profile guests—ranging from Queen Elizabeth to Victoria and David Beckham—and every season, the Principe Bar is packed with editors, models, and designers. It’s a truly beautiful setting, fusing old-world charm with contemporary furnishings and amenities. The hotel’s restaurant, Acanto, is also worth a visit if you’re in the mood for a degustation.

Giorgio Armani is a self-professed perfectionist, and his approach is highly evident at the Armani Hotel Milano, located in the Brera shopping district. Mr. Armani has designed every element down to the bath towels, and the storied house’s understated sophistication is defined at every turn.  With only 95 rooms, the hotel certainly has an intimate feel, but the rooms are spacious and luxurious. To elevate the experience, each guest is assigned a personal “lifestyle manager” to cater to every whim. The Bamboo Bar is a popular hangout during Fashion Week, often hosting parties overlooking the 

city skyline.

Chateau Monfort

If Marie Antoinette were a millennial, her bedroom would probably resemble one of the suites at Chateau Monfort. The palatial five-star hotel exudes a whimsical, fairy-tale vibe, with jewel-hued furnishings and imaginative interior decor. Several of the guest rooms are themed, with colorful features that are both ultramodern and antique. It’s centrally located close to the Duomo just behind Piazza San Babila, which is a convenient position for exploring the city.

Four Seasons Hotel Milan
