FERME DE MOUDON CHALET. Le Gets France

Tucked away down a tiny lane in a secluded setting, a truly the magical chalet that has won awards for design and style and is arguably the most iconic chalet in the Alps.
In an incredibly private and secluded setting yet only a few minutes drive from the center of Les Gets, Ferme de Moudon is possibly the most iconic chalet in the Alps. Described by Tatler as “the finest Winter house in the French Alps” and by Grand Designs presenter Kevin McCloud “like something from a James Bond set,” Ferme de Moudon exudes magic and charm that is hard to beat.

Owned by the talented interior designer Nicky Dobree, the 300-year-old farmhouse has been lovingly renovated so that whilst the traditional architecture and authentic features remain, the interiors have a distinctly modern feel with lots of open spaces, clever lighting, bespoke furnishings and beautiful fabrics.

With an overall living space of 325m² spread across four floors, Ferme de Moudon can accommodate up to 12 guests and is ideal for groups of friends or families looking for a truly magical winter retreat in wonderful surroundings.

A tiny lane gives access to the property which is set within its own private grounds. An entrance hallway and cloakroom on the upper ground floor lead to the open plan living space withdrawing room with sofas set around a log-burning fireplace, dining area with access onto the balcony furnished with steamer chairs and a large open kitchen with breakfast bar. Down one level, there is a TV snug with large leather sofas and flatscreen TV and a games area with billiards table and bar. Doors open onto a small reading balcony and the newly built spa terrace with sunken hot tub, outdoor heated pool, and fire pit.

Set under ancient timbers, the bedrooms are individually designed and decorated using soft sumptuous fabrics in natural tones. On the top floor, the family suite offers panoramic views of the surrounding forest and mountains and has a beautifully lit ensuite bathroom with freestanding bathtub and a separate shower. A small landing with a study equipped with an iMac leads to a separate bedroom with two full-size single beds. Four double/twin bedrooms, each with a private ensuite shower room, are divided across the remaining floors. All bedrooms, with the exception of the twin-bedded room within the family suite, have super king/twin beds to give flexible sleeping options.

On the lower ground floor is the tranquil spa area with sauna, massage room and direct access to the bracing ice-cold outdoor shower and of course, the outdoor spa terrace.

Ferme de Moudon has a ski room with ski lockers and boot warmers and is equipped with WIFi internet, Satellite TV, sound system and iPod docking stations in all of the bedrooms.
