While we were
contemplating future of the First Class after its departure from Qatar Airways
fleet, Air France has unveiled its new ‘La Premiere Suites’ intensifying the
race for luxury supremacy among the Gulf air carriers. The new luxury suites
will be available from September onboard Air France’s Boeing 777-300 fleet. The
announcement comes days after Etihad Airways launched its variants of first
class with ‘First Apartments’ on A380 and ‘First Suites’ on Boeing 787s and the
one of a kind ‘The Residence’.
The
32-square-foot designer luxury suites come in elegant and subdued hues
combining style and privacy. The seat transforms into a 6’7” bed with futon
mattress that is 30 inches wide, hypoallergenic feather pillow, a duvet with
cover. The new seats are by BE Aerospace and have an auto-message feature.
The La
Premiere Suites also include an ottoman for dining and has a bedside reading
lamp. Air France will offer its La Premiere Suites guests a personalized coat
service and a full range of accessories: lounge wear, slippers and a dust bag
for your shoes. Guests will also receive a travel kit complete with a selection
of Biologique Recherche facial and body care products to moisturize and refresh
your skin.
The airline
offers a selection of on-demand programming featuring games, TV series,
documentaries, music and more. Feature films are also available in high
definition, as the 24-inch screen becomes a movie theater.
Michelin-starred
French chefs will prepare gourmet meals and have your table set at your
convenience with a white tablecloth, a porcelain plate designed by Bernardaud,
beveled glasses and flatware crafted by Christofle.
The €50
million investment will be made to the 19 of its Boeing 777-300 fleet, with
only four suites on each aircraft. The airline is hopeful that the luxury seats
will be highly profitable with the return ticket prices averaging €9,000 (or
around $13,500).
