Set in 20 acres of sub-tropical gardens along a sparkling beachfront with tall, swaying palms, the Oberoi Mauritius’ thatched buildings and understated elegance stand out thanks to the harmony of architecture and the surrounding nature.
IN HARMONY WITH NATURE
Exotic bushes, trees, and flowers encompass the hotel villas and premises—with volcanic boulders dotted around the landscaped gardens. The buildings blend in, and the architecture of tall, thatched roofs reflects the island’s African and Asian heritage. So do the ebony sculptures and headboards, woven from sugarcane leaf, in the guest room.
The Oberoi Beach Resort Mauritius has seventy-one Pavilions and Villas. The Pavilions are grouped in single-floor clusters, while the freestanding villas are set within their own walled gardens. Inside, subtle tones dominate the décor, and the rooms feature enormous four-poster beds, sunken marble baths, and an uninterrupted view from the lawn to the ocean.
The Royal Villas are the most decadent option: set within large tropical gardens, they come with private swimming pools and thatched dining pavilions.
DINING AND SPA
There are two restaurants at Oberoi. One has European, Oriental, and Creole dishes on the menu, and the other serves light lunch by the pool and fusion cuisine in the evening. The main restaurant features a soaring palm-thatched roof and ensures great views of the Indian Ocean.
Spa junkies will find The Spa more than satisfactory. It’s
an exclusive sanctuary with all the state-of-the-art treatments on the menu,
some drawing from local traditions, like the fresh coconut massage.
WHAT WE LOVE
Great location, in the northwest corner of Mauritius—the
leeward side of the Island (the windward side can have very strong wind—and
rain). The hotel is sheltered and has some breathtaking ocean sunsets.
Romantic private villas with pools
Great landscaping, beautiful tropical gardens
The food is simply divine! We loved the mouthwatering
Indo-Creole dishes as well as the simple Mediterranean fare
Fantastic service, very well-trained staff—they surround
guests with genuine attention. Exceptional in every way
Sumptuous spa—we loved the hotel’s signature massage, which
is the revitalizing coconut husk body brush, followed by a deep massage with
freshly ground coconut.
Dinners under the stars, with toes in the sand.

The Oberoi Hotel is 55 minutes from the airport and only 15
minutes from the island’s capital, Port-Louis
Northwest coast beaches are less impressive than those on
the island's east coast.
