Located on a wildly beautiful stretch of the Dominican
Republic’s northern coast, Amanera is remote, and that’s part of the appeal.
The views are equally stunning from the resort’s restaurant,
specializing in traditional island dishes made with organic produce and a
modern twist. Down on the resort’s beach, the more casual Beach Club is a
breezy spot for lunch or a couple of rum-based cocktails, preferably after —
not before — your kitesurfing class. This part of the island is paradise for
water sports enthusiasts, though just as many come here to swing a club at the
Playa Grande Golf Course. It will come as no surprise, perhaps, that Amanera is
part of a larger complex, a 'golf-integrated' residential resort, not that
you'll be overly aware of that fact when you're watching the sunset from the
terrace of your casita. You're far away from everything here — including, if
you so wish, the other guests.
