Officially
planned in 2003, in construction since 2009, Yacht Club de Monaco is finally
open…
The
official launch party, which took place last week, was attended by Prince
Albert II and Princess Charlene, as well as the architect who was in charge of
the project, Lord Norman Foster, the founder of the renewed company
Foster+Partners. This event had historical meaning for Monaco and it was
visited by something over 4.000 VIP guests. This elegant establishment now
stands with proud as the crucial centerpiece of the famous Monaco harbor,
represents the new symbol of this city and depicts their well known naval
tradition. Aside from its elegant and stylish design, this club is highly
praised when we’re talking about preserving out natural surroundings, given the
fact that it uses a lot of sustainable sources. It contains photovoltaic cells,
solar thermal panels, as well as sea water cooling systems. In that way, this
club uses the latest technological achievements in this field, as well as all
the features of the perfect location.
Prince
Albert II, president of Yacht Club de Monaco, said during the launch: “The flag
I have just raised today flies proudly on the mast at the top of our new
premises. It marks an important phase in the life of our club, for Port Hercule
and for the principality. With this architectural masterpiece we wished to
affirm Monaco’s yachting identity, our ambition being to continue to orient our
country’s future prosperity towards the sea.”
Members of
this club, as well as about 40 others from other yacht clubs from all over the
world, with whom the Yacht Club de Monaco collaborates, and even those yacht
aficionados, will be able to enjoy all the luxury amenities this place has to
offer. Some of those are exhibition hall, ballroom, spacious pool, phenomenal
terrace, library, fitness center and five spacious and perfectly decked cabins
for traveling guests who wish to get some rest.
