The Cannes
International Film Festival is held annually in Cannes. Normally towards the
end of May. Founded just after the war
in 1946, the Cannes Film Festival previews films and documentaries of all types
and is one of the most well known and popular film festivals in the world. The
festival is held annually at the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès.
Attendance is by invitation only.
The spirit
of the Cannes Film Festival is to encourage the creative work of cinema across
the world. And to foster the contribution of new and exciting writers and scene
makers to the world of cinema.
This is
usually the beginning of the Summer season as after Cannes people continue on
to Monaco, Ibiza, St Tropez & Mykonnos to follow the sun and party.
