Louis Vuitton - A sparkling arrival in Place Vendome
All the excellence in the know-how of Louis Vuitton will be presented in the new haute jewelry store in the Maison, located on the top floor of the elegant 17th century building, where the old benches of master jewelers for numerous generations still remain. Inside the walls of the workshop, a precious tradition is held; Louis Vuitton has created a bright and contemporary showcase with a magnificent view of the elegant Place Vendôme. The new space will be the source of inspiration for teachers who work there, those who perpetuate the excellence of craftsmanship in the tradition of the Maison, as well as the boldness of their innovation. Precious stones from around the world will end their trips in the workshop and together with the expert hands of men and women, who will extract all of their luminous; they will be given a new radiant life in the scintillating jewelry of the store. This will create exceptional pieces that will reprise and celebrate the unique legend continually renewed “L’Ame du Voyage” by Louis Vuitton.

The soft tone of the boutique is the idea of architect Peter Marino who wanted to make a special focus on the jewels.

World’s first All-diamond Ring by Shawish Geneva
See Clip
Shawish
Jewelry of Switzerland has created an 150-carat ring carved from a single
diamond, setting the world record for the world’s first All-diamond Ring. It
took a full year to create the ring, which has been copyrighted and is expected
to sell for $70 million.
A ring made
entirely of a faceted diamond has always seemed like a fantasy. To create the
perfect diamond ring is the epitome of art, said Mohamed Shawish, president and
CEO of Geneva-based Shawish Jewellery.
The ring
was carved with a special laser (purchased especially for that purpose) along
with traditional diamond cutting and polishing techniques. Precisely about that
Mohamed Shawish spoke: We had to do multiple tests with the design, to get the
precision of the circle right. Diamonds are made of carbon and molecules that
can change, even the colour can be altered when attempting to cut it. We had to
buy special laser equipment, to cut directly into the diamond. The most
important aspect is preserving the integrity of the diamond and of course the
most difficult phase is precision cutting an entire stone into a ring.
$70 million
world’s first all-diamond ring is made from 150 brut carat rough diamond from
Brazil. The color of the diamond ring is certified an E and the clarity is VS1.
Sake of comparison, Elizabeth Taylor’s famed ring – present from Richard Burton
was 33.19 carats.

"L’odyssée de Cartier"
En 1937,
Walt Disney présentait le premier long métrage.
universel…
