Copacabana is perhaps the world's most
famous beach. With the iconic view of Sugar Loaf mountain and the wide
expanse of 2.2 miles (4km) of white sand, the beach is a favorite of
locals and
millions of travelers each year.
As Cariocas and tourists elbow for space on crowded summer weekends,
many go to the top of the beach to play volleyball. There are a myriad
of volleyball courts set up on the beach along with spots for football
(soccer) or exercise equipment.
If you just want to relax, there is nothing wrong with applying the
suntan lotion and claiming your piece of heaven. If you want to unwind
even further, you will be happy to learn that you can even find massage
therapists offering their services on the beach. In fact, you won't need
to travel for just about anything as vendors offer chairs, cold drinks,
hot and cold snacks, towels and bathing suits for sale.
As you walk along the top of the beach, you will find that sand
sculpture is not just for the kids, as many incredibly unique and
complex structures can be spotted up and down the beach. Art work is not
limited to the sand as the tile promenade at the top of the beach also
offers a variety of sight seeing pleasures - from the beautiful people
to the appetizing drinks and snacks.
